We are an entrepreneurial, visionary business in growth mode and these are the qualities of our clients.
The idea for Kudzu Brands was planted in 2010 at the dining room table of entrepreneurial couple Murphy and Kenny Capps. The pair shared a dream of bringing together creativity and business strategy to serve others. With a lot of hard work and the tenacity of its namesake, Kudzu Brands has grown into two floors of a historic building in downtown Black Mountain, and a second office in downtown Asheville. The company has supported the growth of hundreds of businesses from Asheville, North Carolina to Chatham, Maine.
Known as the place where “story and strategy intertwine”, Kudzu’s work is notable and can be seen everywhere across the region.
In 2017, Kudzu Brands became a 100% female owned business when Kenny went off to start a non-profit and run across the state of North Carolina and Murphy took over ownership with partner Heather Johnson.
Kudzu Brands has been identified as a high potential business by the Advantage West ScaleUp WNC program. In 2017, we were selected for the for Goldman Sach’s 10,000 Small Businesses program at Babson College. We were also named an Asheville Chamber Sky High Growth Award winner. In 2018, our CEO, Murphy Funkhouser Capps was awarded Entrepreneur of the Year by the Asheville Chamber of Commerce.
In 2018, we took over ownership of The Brite Agency, another well-loved Asheville advertising agency becoming one of the larger, more comprehensive agencies in the region.
