The Big Idea
Literacy Together, formally Literacy Council of Asheville and Buncombe County, is a nonprofit that offers a welcoming place of growth and empowerment for people of all backgrounds, ages, and abilities through comprehensive literacy programs. Alongside committed tutors, the Literacy Together team strives to transform lives and communities through one-on-one literacy services that deliver measurable results.
Literacy Together sought help updating and elevating their out-dated brand to one that sets the organization on track for future growth and impact in the community. As winners of Kudzu’s 2020 Brand New Start Giveaway, Literacy Together claimed a Brand Development package worth $10,000. Through their unique partnership with Kudzu Brands, the team requested guidance in a name and logo change—as well as strategic tactics for breaking their new name into the market, reaching potential donors, volunteers, new students, and program participants.
To help Literacy Together achieve a greater impact and improve awareness of their mission and services, Kudzu Brands formulated a renewed reservoir of brand language, meant to deliver strong and succinct messaging that can be utilized to retain, attract, and target all of Literacy Together’s varied audiences. In addition, Kudzu designed a unique brand mark and with supporting collateral that accurately portrays Literacy Together’s new name, strategic objectives, and overall goals.

After guiding Literacy Together through the Brand Development process unique to their nonprofit’s needs, Kudzu Brands outfitted the nonprofit with a new name and brand aesthetic to match—including various pieces of collateral and a plan to roll out their new brand identity. Literacy Together feels confident in moving forward that their vision, goals, and brand align and provide a solid foundation for continuing to live their mission and for potential future growth.
