The Big Idea

Mountain Housing Opportunities (MHO) is a private, non-profit community development organization whose mission is to build and improve homes, neighborhoods, communities and lives, while building hope and dignity in the people they serve. Their goal is to create meaningful campaigns that encourage participation, endorsement and donation to MHO’s contributions to our community. Overall, Mountain Housing Opportunities wishes to engage Western North Carolina residents and raise awareness of their affordable housing initiatives.

The Strategy

To help MHO meet its goals, Kudzu Brands has provided support for multiple fundraising campaigns. From managing entire fundraising events to creating direct mail campaigns, we are proud to support the growth of MHO’s efforts in providing housing to the low-income sector of our community. We continue to develop new campaigns and public relations efforts to increase awareness of their programs and help raise funds for their causes.

“I woke up this morning happy and proud of our event today and the amazing work that all of you have done for this year’s celebration. East Haven was a heavy lift for our staff-we had to raise a lot of extra money, wait years for our tax credits, redesign the buildings several times, and endure construction during COVID. So thank you all for helping us put a capstone on this community, something we rarely do, as we are typically hurrying on to the next set of challenges. I hope that you know how talented each of you are! And I certainly appreciate and celebrate women who are determined and committed to a job well done.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

The Impact

MHO has worked with Kudzu Brands for over 3 years now and continues to see increased engagement with their fundraising campaigns. Last year’s Experience the Block Ribbon Cutting and Celebration, managed and created by Kudzu Brands, marked their biggest fundraising event in history, raising nearly $200,000 in one evening. In 2020, due to the pandemic, MHO held their first virtual event. This event managed and designed by Kudzu Brands continues to see resounding success and awareness of MHO’s impact on the affordable housing crisis in Western North Carolina.
